Your Mother Should Know

There were a lot of things you wanted to do as a kid that your Mom would never let you do. There were a lot of things you wanted to poke or ignite or build or touch or explore. Moms are against all of these verbs on general principle. Sometimes you listened. Sometimes you didn't.

Yesterday one of the neighbor boys spent about eight hours piling up snow against the side of his garage. He packed it in between a few sheets of wood paneling he found in the garage and an iron stairwell that runs up to their balcony. He slowly sculpted the snow pile. He groomed it and iced it and planned it well. The reward? KINGPIN SUPER LUGE.

The course has two tiers. You start out near their balcony railing, swerve down across their garage roof, swerve back to come down the side of the garage and then cut hard right on a curved hill before you shoot out the end into the driveway.

It looks like a lot of fun, it really does. And when I first heard about it, I got incredibly excited. Even as I was standing there, I was incredibly excited. Then I watched somebody ride down...

All I can say is... Some things I decide to do? It's a good thing I have health insurance.
