MCP

The word came down today that all "Rapid Response" techs and tech leads on the project I'm on have to complete at least one Microsoft certification. They have to get their MCP's.

The role of "Rapid Response" is advanced PC troubleshooting. But the people they've placed in these positions were all laid off from other accounts and include people like COBOL programmers, web designers, hardware techs, etc. These people have no interest in getting any Microsoft certifications and are basically just biding their time until they can get back into a position they want to be in.

So somehow, I doubt that many of them are actually going to bother to get their MCP's. This is going to leave many, many vacancies in the "Rapid Response" positions. And these positions will probably open up to your average Joe. Who has their MCP. So in order to improve my work life, I think I'm going to get my MCP. Hopefully that will help me to get out from underneath the iron fist of the helpdesk.

Down with fascism. Up with personal choice. Damn the man and dance in the flames. Or something like that...
