Bob Eubanks Ate My Balls

With digital cable comes a whole slough of channels you never really knew you wanted. You didn't even know that a lot of them existed. One of these channels is The Game Show Network. They play reruns of all kinds of old game shows. $100,000 Pyramid, Password, Joker's Wild, Let's Make A Deal, Cardsharks, Tic Tac Doe, Family Feud, the Newlywed Game. On and on and on.

The shows themselves are kind of campy and dumb. That's what game shows are all about. But the beauty of the Game Show Network is that they rerun game shows from the late 60's and early 70's. And if you've never watched an episode of The Newlywed Game from 1971, you are MISSING OUT.

Did you know that mutant humans walked the earth? That people were even MORE DUMB than they are now? That women had no place in a reasoning society? That men were usually goofy looking?

The Game Show Network gives us more than Bob Eubanks. It gives us a link to our common past. It shows a cross section of America in a time that most of us have lost touch with. And I appreciate that quite a bit.

So thank you, GSN. You showed me something that I never thought I'd see: The 70's. Up close and personal.
